Around 13,000 years ago, there was an arrival of Native Americans. The Spanish came in the 18th century to occupy and Chritianize the area, which became part of Mexico following the Mexican War of Independence. There is a very historical mission in Santa Barbara, made by the forced labor of the Native Americans. Many still to the present day are sad, and disapointed that the Spanish took over and destroyed the Native's land of Santa Barbara.
